We proudly announce that this year’s Fiesta Day Grand Marshals are Ted and Nancy Horton. Canyon Lake residents for nearly 20 years. For the past 10 years, this dynamic couple has been actively serving the community in a variety of ways.

Nancy has an extensive resume of community service specific to Canyon Lake. From serving on the City (of Canyon Lake) Council, being Mayor, to being part of the committees that created community events such as the Veteran’s Day Celebration in the Towne Center Plaza and the National Day of Prayer event. Most recently, in 2016, Nancy was elected to a four-year term as District 1 Board Member to the Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District.Nancy was a guiding force with the Total Maximum Daily Load Task Force in applying for grants to provide Alum treatments in Canyon Lake.

Her counterpart, Ted, of course is no stranger in Canyon Lake. Ted served on the Canyon Lake POA Board from 2014 to 2016 where he assisted with the recent Long Range Planning process, development of Seawall Standards, development of a Lake Management Plan, Main Gate installation and Happy Camp rehabilitation. He also assisted the Canyon Lake POA in applying for the $1.5 million grant for turf conversion to drought tolerant plants at the golf course.

If all of that wasn’t enough, together is where the Hortons really shine. For five years, Ted and Nancy have delivered food bags for HOPE to seniors in Lake Elsinore who are food fragile. Recently, Ted and Nancy were asked to join the board of Helping Hands, a local faith-based organization that provides food bags for those in need. Ted and Nancy also regularly attend both Canyon Lake POA Board and City Council Meetings. They are also members of the community’s Travel, Fine Arts, and Yacht Clubs and have been avid participants in the December Boat and Golf Cart Light Parades – first with their “Little Red Engine” and lately with a “Monarch Butterfly” theme.
